Additional instances were unconnected to travel to Africa, according to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).

Susan Hopkins, the UKHSA’s chief medical adviser, stated on Friday that new cases of monkeypox virus were identified on a daily basis.

However, a UKHSA official stated that the population was not in danger, but that people should be watchful. The first case of monkeypox was reported in the United Kingdom on May 7. The virus has already spread to the United States, Germany, Spain, and other European countries.

According to UK education secretary Nadhim Zahawi, the smallpox vaccine, which has been shown to be effective against monkeypox, is being obtained.

“There are some individuals who are significantly more at risk of serious sickness, notably immunosuppressed folks or young children,” Susan Hopkins added, “but we think it’s pretty mild among adults.”

Even as US Vice President Joe Biden cautioned that the monkeypox virus is spreading, Hopkins encouraged anyone affected with the virus to stay at home, avoid contact with others, and seek medical help if rashes appear.
