India’s Home Minister Amit Shah clarified the killing of 14 civilians in Nagaland, saying it was a case of “mistaken identity”.
Talking about the killing of 14 civilians in Nagaland by the Armed Forces, Amit Shah mentions to all the agencies that such an incident must not be repeated in the future. Also, he says that it was the case of “mistaken identity” and while addressing the Lok sabha during the “zero hours” that the army has expressed regret over the incident.

The home minister mentions that on Dec 4, 2021, the army received the information on the movement of the extremist in Oting, and on this basis, 21 commandos planned to set outrage in the suspected areas.
Therefore, a vehicle that reached the suspected place, where when it was signaled to flee it tried to escape, where Home Minister mentioned that out of 8, 6 died and said it out to be mistaken identity and the other two were taken to the nearest health care by the Army members.
Amit Shah also told that when the villagers were updated about the incident, the villagers surrounded and attacked the Army by setting the two vehicles on the fire. This resulted in the death of one jawan of the security forces and also many others were injured. Also, this led to to the deaths of seven civilians and also left many villagers injured. He mentions regret over the incident and is investigating the matter at its highest level and actions must be taken place as per the law.
Amit Shah said, after the incident, he immediately talked to the Nagaland CM and the governor. He added that central is keeping a close watch over the incident. Earlier the other oppositions leaders put forward about the killings of the civilians of the Nagaland’s mon and also deemed for an independent inquiry. Approximately 14 civilians and one soldier were killed in an insurgence operation that took place on Dec 4. Security forces opened fire on the civilians consecutively. A shutdown has been imposed in the capital after the huge protest against the ongoing outrage.
