‘Irreparable loss’: Former Uttar Pradesh CM Mulayam Singh passes away at 82

Samajwadi Party patriarch and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav today passed away at the age of 82 after a long illness. He was undergoing treatment at Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital and was shifted to the ICU when his condition worsened. As per the source, yesterday, the Medanta hospital informed that he is on life-saving drugs, and being treated in the ICU by “a team of specialists”.

The news of his death is very sad from the point of view of the politics of UP as well as the country. The news has left shattered and heartbroken millions of people, thereby being tweeted by many renowned personalities expressing grief for the grief-striking death of Samajwadi Party patriarch and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced three-day state mourning in UP for Mulayam Singh Yadav as a mark of respect to Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh.

He was born on November 22, 1939, Mulayam Singh Yadav was one of the most prominent leaders of Uttar Pradesh who served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh thrice and has also served in the Union Government as the Minister of Defence. He was elected 10 times as MLA and 7 times as Lok Sabha MP.

In July this year, the Samajwadi Party patriarch’s wife Sadhna Gupta, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gurugram for a lung infection passed away. His first wife, Maalti Devi, mother of Akhilesh Yadav passed away in 2003.
