Indian Army Day 2022: On January 15, India commemorates Army Day with fervor. It is named after Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa (K. M. Cariappa), the Indian Army’s Commander-in-Chief.
The Indian Army Day is observed to remember the day when Colonel J.A.S Bhonsle and his troops gave their lives at the Fight of Khadki, a key battle that led to the British Indian Army’s capture of Peshawar and Kohat.
Every year, a military parade and other military exhibitions are held at Delhi’s Ferozeshah Kotla Ground, when General K M Cariappa was saluted by contingents from each corps. to commemorate the day.
In 2022, we will commemorate the 74th Indian Army Day with almost the same pride, fervor, and emotion, so that future generations can appreciate the Indian Army’s sacrifices and services.
The British Indian Army was created on April 1, 1895, inside the British rule, and was known as the British Indian Army. Following India’s independence in 1947.

In 1949, Lt Gen KM Cariappa took over as the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces from General Francis Butcher, who was the penultimate British commander-in-chief of the Indian Army.
Army Day marks the shift of authority from the British to India, which is considered a watershed moment in Indian history. This day is also commemorated to pay honor to the servicemen who have sacrificed their lives in the service of the country.
HOW IS INDIAN ARMY DAY OBSERVED?
The Indian Army plays a crucial role during crises because it is committed to becoming a war-leading force. This day was designated as Indian Army Day to begin paying tribute to slain Indian army men at the “Amar Jawan Jyoti” at India Gate in New Delhi.
A ravishing parade featuring military exercises follows the tribute, highlighting the Indian Army’s latest technology and accomplishments. Various bravery awards such as Division credentials and Sena Medals are conferred on this special historic day.
Serving Army personnel get courage and highly revered Seva medals at the Army Day event in Jammu and Kashmir.
Along with this, the Indian Army Day traditionally includes a display of all of the Indian Army’s weaponry. Weapons, drones, helicopters, and other cutting-edge technology are proudly exhibited.
The celebrations in 2022 will include a display of the most modern weaponry purchased by the Indian Army, both indigenously developed and imported. The BLT T-72 ‘Bharat Rakshak’ tank, the 155mm Soltum Gun, and the BrahMos Missiles are among the most recent additions to the exhibit.
On Indian Army Day, gallantry prizes like unit credentials and Sena medals are also presented.
The all-new camouflage uniform, created in collaboration with the Indian Army and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), will be unveiled at the Indian Army Day parade in 2022.
