How to hide WhatsApp channels on Android and iOS?

WhatsApp has recently rolled out a new feature called Channels which allows users to follow their favourite celebrities and news portals to get the latest updates. However, the feature has received a lot of criticism for turning WhatsApp into yet another social media platform.

If you are someone who does not see much use for the WhatsApp channels feature, here is how you can hide this feature to make WhatsApp less distracting.

On Android, you can either continue to use an older version of WhatsApp without the channels feature, or you can back up the chats, uninstall the newer version, and install the older version.

On iOS, you can hide channels by tapping on the ‘Updates’ tab, then tapping on the ‘Edit’ button and unchecking the channels you don’t want to see.

Do note that closing and reopening WhatsApp will undo this setting, and the process has to be repeated every time to hide channels on WhatsApp.
