2022’s National Doctors Day: Theme and Importance

The Indian Medical Association organizes Doctor’s Day, which is observed on July 1 each year (IMA). The day was originally observed in 1991 as a way to recognize Dr. BC Roy, a former chief minister of Bengal, for his contributions to advancing mankind. He passed away in 1962 after being born on July 1, 1882. He was a well-known liberation fighter and a renowned physician who, on February 4, 1961, also received the Bharat Ratna. The purpose of this holiday is to recognize the efforts and sacrifices made by the medical professionals who save millions of lives every year.

Background

To honor Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, who was West Bengal’s chief minister at the time, this day was first commemorated in 1991. He made excellent contributions to the medical field during his career, therefore this day has been set aside in his honor. He was a well-known physician and an advocate for independence. In 1961, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the nation’s highest civilian honor.

Theme

“Family Doctors on the Front Line” will be the National Doctors Day theme in 2022. The importance of doctors who treat a whole family or a community is highlighted by this.
